Manchester United, who are in the race for the top four, suffered a defeat when the London club Arsenal, who is in the hunt for the title of the English Premier League, achieved success.

Arsenal defeated the home team Newcastle United 2-0 and narrowed the points gap with Manchester City at the top. Captain Martin Odegaard was gifted a goal when he scored in Arsenal’s win at St. James’ Park on Sunday night.

In the eighth minute of the game, the home team Newcastle appealed for a penalty, but the VAR did not recognize it. In the 14th minute, captain Odegaard scored a pass from Jorginho to give Arsenal a 1-0 lead.

Then in the 71st minute, Arsenal managed to win after Fabian scored an own goal. While saving Odegaard’s shot, Fabian reached his own post to score.

With this win, Arsenal narrowed the points gap with the top-placed City to 1. Arsenal, who have played one more game, have 81 points from 35 games. City has 82 points, having played one game less. Defeated Newcastle is in third place with 65 points from 34 games.

In another Premier League match, United lost the chance to climb to third place when they lost 1-0 to the home team West Ham United. In United’s defeat, the goal scored by Said Benrahma in the first half became decisive.

With this loss, United lost the chance to climb to third place, and they remain in fourth place with 63 points from 34 games. After defeating United, West Ham is in 15th place with 37 points from 35 games.
